Loss is a part of everyone’s life and grieving the losses of our loved ones is one of the most difficult challenges we will ever face in life.
As a certified Bereavement and Grief Educator, I can help you navigate this difficult journey of grief recognizing that there is no specific timeline for grief as everyone grieves at their own pace.
Witnessing your grief and providing you the opportunity to share your story of life with your loved one is a critical step in the healing process.
Together, we can explore and better understand your experience in moving through the often confusing stages of the grief journey including denial of our loss and an inability to allow ourselves to feel the pain of our loss or even to talk about our loss; intense feelings of anger, guilt, and even shame; bargaining with ourselves and often the higher power that we may believe in by replaying all of the “if onlys” or “only ifs” that in our mind could have prevented the loss; depression and feelings of loneliness, helplessness and a lack of enthusiasm; and finally, the acceptance that our loved one has passed and that we will have to live and define what our new reality will be.
Throughout each step of our process, we engage in reflective exercises which can help you heal as well as explore potentially what noted grief expert David Kessler calls the sixth stage of grief, namely the deeper meaning of your loss and how that meaning can help you create a new pathway to living again in a way that honors your loved one.
